ABOUT

WE CREATE PLACES AND EXPAND POSSIBILITY WE CREATE PLACES AND EXPAND POSSIBILITY

We create a place with purpose. The process we envision for creating this place is to identify the fundamental issues, to resolve the issues via in-depth examination, and to implement its operation sustainably. Our work covers everything necessary from conception to utilization.

A place with purpose changes the behavior of the people who gather there and this change in behavior changes awareness. This sequence forms the basis for realizing our purpose. By creating this place, we create the future.

OUR ROOTS

In 1998, lump sum contracts for design and construction were the standard in the office industry of Japan, and there were times of uncertainty with regard to the design details and validity of costs and quality. Hiroya Sato, the company representative, wanted to change the industry, so he started a business with project management as the main operation in order to create workplaces that are tailored to each client’s needs. Project Manager is a role that delivers project success as a representative expert acting on behalf of the client.

Part of creating a place by representing the client is understanding the client’s perspective and future goals as well as realizing the client’s final objective, which is the result of good management of the organization and team.

Two years later, having experienced a synergy between the act of creating a place and resolving organizational human resource issues, we contributed in bringing business to Link and Motivation Inc. soon after its founding.

Later, upon further business expansion, our business branched off as a new company, LinkPlace Inc. Many of the core members of the current DE-SIGN were a part of the LinkPlace era, during which we created many strategic workplaces where the environment changed actions, and actions changed awareness.

In 2012, to allow us to further expand into a broader range of fields, our company became independent through an MBO. This was when our company name was changed to DE-SIGN Inc., broadening the word “design” to represent our intent.

Our team, diverse in experiences and skills, continue to accept the challenge of creating places not hindered by the existing conventional framework and aim to exceed the traditional workplace domain through insights on workstyle, products, graphics, construction, and community development.

OUR TEAM

We are a diverse team of project managers, interior designers, architects, graphic designers, product designers, researchers, workstyle consultants, and regional revitalization Organizers. We work by aligning our purpose and values with those of our clients to tackle our projects as a single unified team.
